No Matter the Ensemble Size, Jim Can Put the Pieces in Place

James Sherry frequently provides original and arranged music for several bands, orchestras, and ensembles. He's also composed and arranged tunes for the Great Midwestern Educational Theatre Company productions, such as the Imagination Celebrations held at the University of Dubuque (2009) and the Dubuque Mississippi River Museum (2012), and as Music Professor Opus Infinitude at the Frogwart’s Summer School of Wizardry (2013). In 1999 Dr. Sherry arranged a set of nine Charles Mingus tunes for nine musicians from the Baltimore School for the Arts Jazz Ensemble. The tunes include Better Get Hit in Your Soul, Pithecanthropus Erectus, E’s Flat, Ah’s Flat Too, Oh Lord, Don’t Let Them Drop That Atomic Bomb on Me, Duke Ellington’s Sound of Love, and My Jelly Roll Soul. Sy Oliver, the arranger for the Mingus Big band in New York City and Sue Mingus, the composer’s widow, granted permission for publication in 2000. These arrangements are available on request.
